Eligibility Criteria

SEED welcomes innovative ideas from any organisation or enterprise in a developing country or country in transition, which is working in partnership with others to generate economic, environmental and social benefits. SEED's independent International Jury of experts selects Award Winners, those initiatives which have the greatest promise of making substantial improvements in poverty eradication and environmental sustainability while contributing to a greener economy.

Proposals which do not fulfil ALL the eligibility criteria below should not be submitted.

SEED Award Winners must:

a) demonstrate entrepreneurship and innovation

b) deliver economic, social and environmental benefits

c) intention and potential to become financially sustainable

d) a partnership between different stakeholder groups

e) locally driven or locally led

f) potential for scale up or significant replication

g) in the early stages of implementation

h) in a country with a developing or emerging economy

 

In 2011 one special SEED Gender Equality Award will be made available to initiatives that are women-led or owned, and prioritise gender equality or women’s empowerment as a core objective. If you also want to apply for the SEED Gender Equality Award, your initiative, in addition to the above eight criteria, also needs to:

 

i) be women-led or owned and prioritise gender equality and/or women’s empowerment as a core objective(s)
