The SEED Programme is based on two main pillars:
- Supporting Enterprises: Through an annual, global awards scheme SEED finds and reveals a wealth of novel ways of doing business. An independent international jury of experts selects the most promising and innovative social and environmental start-ups, which are working in multistakeholder partnerships. Each Award consists of an individually tailored package of support to help a winner to develop business and management plans and skills, put in place triple bottom line indicators, and build networks, including with financial bodies. Winners receive a financial contribution towards their needs and are profiled at high-level events.
- Provide insights to Policy makers through research: SEED tracks the progress of its winners to identify the economic, social and environmental contributions they are making and the enablers and obstacles they encounter. From this experience, specific tools for entrepreneurs are developed. The insights are brought up to policy makers to inform the elaboration of supportive frameworks for social and environmental entrepreneurs.
